Find Ease in the Process
Dear friend ~
In a world that is noisier than ever, my hope is that you are finding moments of quietude.
I often say to clients that while things can’t always be made to feel easier, our conversations can help provide more ease along the way.
And isn’t that what it’s about? Rather than easy, we can find ease in the process. That goes a long way, especially as we age into each new iteration of ourselves.
Throughout my childhood, adults described me as an old soul. Quiet and reserved, a serious thinker and rule follower. I kept my active imagination to myself. In many ways, mid-life has opened up a youthfulness that was unavailable to my younger self. As a shy and timid kid, I was uncomfortable in my own skin; the quintessential wallflower.
Fast forward to today, and the space between my painfully shy young self and my unfiltered mid-life self is vast. This evolution, as with most individuals, arrived through micro-shifts that cumulatively created who I am today.
Perhaps this is what drives my motivation to shift the narrative around aging, and stop pathologizing transitions most everyone encounters as they age.
Normalizing conversations around life changes is a place to start. When we externalize the internal chatter from our own minds, and receive affirmation through the stories of others, we are reminded of our common humanity.
Yours in connection,
